The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UN CRC) is the most ratified document in the whole world. This is a significant achievement for the reunification of the State parties, aiming promotion of child welfare, but this also implies the immense responsibility of the governments and civil society to fulfill the undertaken committments. The Republic of Bulgaria is a state party under the Convention since 1991 and has also ratified the two Optional protocols to the CRC - on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography, and on the involvement of children in armed conflict.
Through this website the State Agency for Child Protection (SACP) to the Council of Ministers, Republic of Bulgaria and UNICEF - Bulgaria aim to introduce and inform as wider circle of people as possible about the rights, set in the Convention. We hope that the materials you are going to find out here will facilitate the apllication of this universally accepted normative framework, and that the better recognition of child rights will contribute to the elaboration of effective policies and practices for improvement of the state of children in Bulgaria.
We will be very glad, if this website would be utilized as a reference book and a basic instrument in the everyday process of child protection.
